Women's Wilderness

2017-2022 Grant Recipient of $5,000

About Women's Wilderness

Women’s Wilderness supports girls, women and LGBTQ+ people in accessing their power and improving their health through connections to the outdoors and community. The organization’s approach is pro-girl, experiential, holistic and nature-based. All courses have been designed both by qualified outdoor guides and by therapists, educators, and gender experts to help girls navigate the aforementioned challenges of adolescence. Every session or day on course pairs a physical, outdoor experience with sessions from their custom curriculum.

“I felt my real strength, and how much I can do. I also made a lot of new friends because we were all in the same boat, and no one was going to laugh at you or tell you something you said was wrong."

Equity and Resilience Outside

As in years past, support from The Cairn Project will fund scholarships for spots in the Girl Wilderness Adventure programs offered by Women’s Wilderness. These offerings include summer-camp style programs operated around the Front Range of Colorado and multi-day programs offered in other parts of Colorado as well as Wyoming, New Mexico, and Utah. Our $5K grant will support the participation of 10 girls in these 7-10 programs in the Rocky Mountains!
