With programs that get young women out backpacking, hiking, kayaking, and rock climbing in the Northern California wilderness, GirlVentures nurtures self-esteem and resilience, empowering confident young women who are conservationists and compassionate allies to each other. Difficult outdoor activities provide the format and structure through which girls develop physical, emotional, and social tools that help them navigate adventure and challenge – in the outdoors, and in their homes and communities.VISIT WEBSITE
“I gained the courage to step out of my comfort zone as I made friends with new groups of people, took on incredible physical challenges, stepped up as a leader, and learned to communicate my needs."
Support from The Cairn Project will offer continued scholarship support for the 2017-2018 season of Girls Climb On. This mentored, after-school climbing program for 6-8th graders involves weekly meetings at climbing gyms, capping each semester off with outdoor climbing at Castle Rock State Park. This landmark program delivers big impact: based on a survey of recent participants, 92% feel more confident to try activities that some people think girls can’t, 91% are more likely to be physically active, 91% believe they can now be leaders, and 87% rely on themselves more.
